Florida Project

The Florida project. One of my favorite life long loves! Thrifted and decorated this space from scratch in 6 days. What a dream to have complete freedom to design a space on the beach all from thrifted and used vintage furniture. Sarasota and the surrounding areas have some really great thrift stores. They have several goodwills where I found so much good stuff, along with great secondhand shops, antique malls, and good ole fashion thrift stores.

With this project, I wanted it to feel like you were at the beach, on the coast. But, I also am in love with the western style and wanted to mix the two styles. West coastern? Coastal western? Western coast? Regardless of what I call it, I think I accomplished the goal! So much texture and warmth.

Cryosculpt Project

This was a fun project! Cryosculpt is Jackson’s first cryotherapy and massage center. Cryotherapy is the use of extremely cold nitrogen gas to reduce inflammation for sore muscles. We wanted to design the waiting room tropical and warm for their clients. The building was already painted this deep blue color and I knew these orange chairs would pop in the space. We incorporated a few items they already had, but I specifically sourced most of the pieces for this project.

This room gets the most amazing sunshine, so much so they had to tint the windows! We collaborated with a local plant shop called Grounded Plant Company that really brought the jungle theme home. The plants are thriving. I appreciate the folks at Cryoculpt trusting me to bring their lobby design together!

Ripley Project—Living Room

Jenny and I met on social media and have been chatting about working on her space for over 2 years! She wants me to help with every room in her house so we decided to go with the biggest room first— the living room!

What I love about design projects is I get to go shopping for the specific space and get to put the pieces I find into play exactly how I envisioned them. I so often will thrift something i think is so cool that will sit at the store for months because no one sees the same potential. Or when they do see the potential and buy from the shop, I don’t get to see the finished results!

I had a lot of fun designing and shopping for this space. So jealous that Jenny and her husband get to live here🤣😍

The paint color we used is Jasper Stone by Sherwin Williams. I made her these custom striped shelves that pop with the blue!

Fun fact, the woman on the wall is actually an ancestor of Jenny’s! There are several meaningful pieces we’ve incorporated into the space like the wooden cabinet under Hank and the trunk from her grandfather. The skull above the fireplace was her dad’s! When the space feels like home, there’s nothing better. 🥰

Living Room Refresh

Our living room is one of those rooms in the house that to everyone that isn’t me, looked good. And sure, it did look good, but there was something off about it that I couldn’t put my finger on.

I think the problem was the couches were pushed back on the wall which made it feel like an entirely different room that was disconnected to the kitchen and dining table. Now that the couches are pulled closer it feels like one big room for one big conversation.

I’ve wanted to rearrange for a while now but didn’t give the new layout much thought. One of our cats that we love so much has an attitude problem and pees in one spot in our living room about every 4-6 months. We are on our last straw with her and are willing to try everything we can so we don’t have to get rid of her for peeing on our stuff! Let’s try rearranging the living room, give it another 6 months and see if that helps. 🤷‍♀️
